Walnut/birch shells
Tama’s sound is distinctive. Known for their extensive use of a range of woods, they have arrived at this combination of body and clarity. Walnut is a rich, dark wood that is firm in its resonance, whereas birch is known for its focused sound and short sustain. The combination produces a ‘sweet and mellow’ sound that punches through you – and the mix.
They have also worked on the bearing edge, creating a point of contact between the shell and head that optimises resonance and tone. With the top of the bearing edge carved 2.5mm in, a rounded collar follows the head to create a conformed fit that is integral to Tama’s legendary tone.
Star-Cast mounting system
These shells can resonate freely and safely with this system. Switching to aluminium, Tama has made the hardware lighter whilst also increasing the true vibration of the drums. Stability and resonance on each tom. It is also chrome plated, matching your hardware and creating a stunning look.
