The latest Sonor Benny Greb Signature Snare features a dampening system never before seen on a snare drum. Aptly named “the sheep” and “the felt”, the two dampeners are mounted internally on the drum and are applied to the drum head via adjusters on the outer shell. The dampeners provide a unique sound ranging from big open tones to intricate, funky tones. What’s more, both dampeners are completely interchangeable allowing you to produce your own, truly unique snare sound.

The timeless Silky Black finish is offset by white underlays between the chrome fittings and the shell. The snares are available in a Standard and Premium Edition: The Standard Edition includes the snare, a set of 3 dampening rings and 2 Protean tuning keys. The Premium Edition additionally includes a unique Protean case, made by Hardcase UK. The case contains the "EQ" and "Spacer" snare wires, secured in a wooden box, separated from the drum itself.

About: Jost Nickel
Jost Nickel is an ever-expanding drummer from Germany. He is renowned in Germany for playing drums alongside Abe Laboriel Jr. and Manu Katche on some of the country's best albums. Jost is specifically known for his diverse, punchy drum sound in which he incorporates jazz and intricate playing techniques for a unique sound. He has released several books including a biography and also teaches drums on a professional level sharing his unique drumming sound. Their heavy beech shell is made using our proprietary Cross-Laminated Tension Free (CLTF) process and Optimum Shell Measurements (OSM). The slightly undersized diameter allows for perfect contact between the shell and the drumhead in all tunings. At the same time, TuneSafe lugs and Remo USA drumheads guarantee maximum tuning stability and a great sound right out of the box.
