Pearl Free-Floating Snare The snare wire for the 14″ Pearl Free-floating snare drum has 16 strands, an overall length of 15 3/4″, and a strand length of 14 7/8″ (including the soldered area on each end-plate). Both end plates have modern configurations for attachment to the strainer and butt plate via string or strap. Puresound’s Vintage Series snare wires are designed not only to replace worn and no longer available wires on vintage snares, they are also designed to enhance the performance of those classic drums.

Custom Pro Steel
The Custom Pro series of snare wires are the ultimate in ease-of-use. They’re designed with Anti-choke end plates that significantly reduce annoying snare buzz and also allow the player to crank up their snare tension for a tight response without choking the drum. The Speed Release straps allow the player to disengage the snare wires without releasing the straps from the strainer or butt clamps, enabling quick and easy head or wire changes. The steel coil models produce a quick and crisp snare response.

Equalizer Series
The Equalizer line has been created to modify the spread and activity of the snare sound by working in conjunction with the snare drum’s natural acoustics and snare bed design. Equalizers feature an off-set design that removes the strands from the middle of the drum; in effect decreasing the vibration of the wires. Not only is the result a drier and crisper sound, but the wires will be less influenced by sympathetic vibrations from other drums and instruments.

Super 30 Series
The Super 30 Series utilizes the same steel-alloy wires, handcrafted construction methods and exclusive copper end clips as the Custom Series in a 30-strand format designed to increase snare response and articulation. Compared to other wide-format snare wires, the PureSound Super 30 wires are able to create a distinctive and penetrating sound without choking the drum or sacrificing its feel. Additionally, the Super 30 needs only a slightly wider than normal (3 to 3.5 inch) snare bed for optimum performance.

Twisted Series
The Twisted Series are made from twenty double strands of Puresound’s premium-grade steel-alloy wire that are coiled together in pairs; resulting in increased levels of dryness, articulation and response. They achieve that sound without requiring tight snare tension while also providing a significantly higher degree of sensitivity from the drum at any tension.
