An expertly-engineered blend of maple and birch. Both tonewoods combine to produce an exciting range of drum tones. These shells feature 4 or 5 plies of birch with 2 inner plies of maple. Maple is one of the most popular cuts for drums the world over, due to its warm, bright sounds and tonal versatility. Meanwhile, birch offers cutting projection and unmatched levels of attack. Those inner layers of maple are the sweetness at the core of the Performer Shell Pack, with the power of the outer birch layers helping you project your playing to the world.

Walnut/birch shells
Tama’s sound is distinctive. Known for their extensive use of a range of woods, they have arrived at this combination of body and clarity. Walnut is a rich, dark wood that is firm in its resonance, whereas birch is known for its focused sound and short sustain. The combination produces a ‘sweet and mellow’ sound that punches through you – and the mix.
They have also worked on the bearing edge, creating a point of contact between the shell and head that optimises resonance and tone. With the top of the bearing edge carved 2.5mm in, a rounded collar follows the head to create a conformed fit that is integral to Tama’s legendary tone.
Star-Cast mounting system
