Sonor's state-of-the-art Teardrop lugs piece together every tone and resonance fired from the beechwood shells with a classic aesthetic included. To achieve this, Sonor has gone to great lengths to develop their Cross Lamination Tension Free design which layers each ply of beechwood at a 90-degree angle to form a perfectly rounded shell that is tension-free. Sonor has also developed their Optimum Shell Measurement system which utilizes slightly undersized shell diameters to give the drum headroom to float freely allowing for unrestricted contact between the drum head and bearing edge.

Sonors Vintage series shells are made with nine plies of beechwood for a 6mm total thickness. This allows for a precise and warm tone with a penetrating, consistent volume. This ties in perfectly with the rounded bearing edges which deliver a warm tone with a resounding deep resonance.
